This question makes me want to make a tier list of vtuber 'celebrity' status so I can better show where I think I am and where I want to be. Maybe I'll do that on stream some morning.

On one hand, I'm not a 'vtuber'. I don't really stream or post vids to YouTube. I'm not idol culture based. I call myself an 'internet person' because I've just been a person on the internet doing stuff for the last 20 some years. On the other hand, I'm a vtuber. I'm out here streaming with an avatar. That's a vtuber.

Thankfully, I don't see myself at the very bottom... maybe three rungs above the bottom. I would like to be somewhere like 5 rungs from the top. I have no intention of reaching an audience larger than needed to have a 10 CCV on Twitch. I want my name to be recognized in the space and I'd like my aesthetic to be strong enough to be identifiable. I don't want to be massive because I like knowing who my internet friends are and keeping up with what they're doing online so we can chat about it when they come by the stream.

To get to that 5 rungs from the top position there's several things I think need to happen: more time passed, create a body of how-to resources, bolder avatar design, stop being anxious about singing, edited clips and vods, stronger branding... probably more but that's the realistic stuff I could think of this morning.

I know the term "vtuber" has very much lost its shape ever since its inception and that there is no thing like a "vtuber community" or a "vtubing space" in the sense that people would like/need there to be one, but either way it's interesting to hear where people see themselves inside the bubble and where they want to be/what they wanna be associated with.
